Mighty Zambezi River | Rafting & Kayaking Overnight
The Zambezi River, on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, enters the Batoka Gorge just below Mosi-oa-Tunya (Victoria Falls) through zigzagging chasms that ripple the land there. The whitewater is legendary, and tens of thousands of tourists take day trips down the gorge annually. Below the day trip section, lies much more whitewater and incredible sandy beaches for camping. Although two mega-dams already harness the lower Zambezi's immense power, another dam threatens the Batoka Gorge and the thousands of jobs created by the whitewater industry. This expedition was organized by SierraRios.org, who will be running more 10-11 day trips down the gorge in the coming years.
