Following the rain on the morning of May 16th, it appears that the Philippines has officially entered the rainy season. While it was completely clear and sunny in Makati, light sprinkles occurred in scattered areas throughout Quezon City. This tendency for weather conditions to change noticeably even within short distances in the same metropolitan area is a distinct characteristic of the Philippines. The most critical hazard to watch out for during the rainy season is the formation of road depressions after it rains. The pavement tends to sink significantly, particularly around manholes, so car drivers and motorcycle riders must exercise extra caution.
