Was it Samuel who appeared to the medium of Endor to communicate with Saul? Or was it a demon? Let me add something to help those new to the faith who need some clarification. OBVIOUSLY, THIS PASSAGE WAS INSPIRED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT; the entire Bible is divinely inspired, of that there is no doubt. In fact, I made a two-part video series some time ago talking about the truthfulness of God's word. But it's important to understand that when the writer says that "Samuel spoke," he is not referring to Samuel the prophet, but to the person who appeared to the medium, whom they called Samuel. In other words, the narrator is NOT establishing a doctrine or giving his opinion on the identity of the person. He is simply describing the words of the mysterious figure, whom those involved call Samuel, and therefore he is also referring to him by the name that Saul and the medium had given him. Therefore, the interpretation presented in this video does not contradict the truth that the Bible is infallible and truthful.
