Great Smoky Mountains Railroad 1702: Steam Through The Smokies

The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad operates the Nantahala Gorge Excursion between Bryson City & Nantahala, NC, over former Southern rails. For this video, we spent three days chasing and documenting the train, which was powered by the GSMR 1702, a former US Army 2-8-0 steam locomotive, as well as GSMR 2335 and GSMR 4210. In this nearly 45 minute long production, you'll see the train rollng by at numerous locations along the line, carrying passengers through the Smoky Mountains in North Carolina. This is a very scenic experience in one of the most beautiful areas in the world. It is highly reccommended you check it out! Enjoy. © 2025
