Tarektek | Philippine Folkdance

Tarektek is a dance imitating the woodpeckers of Benguet, Mountain Province. This dance is performed at the lush, green, and mountainous spot in Calabanga, Camarines Sur known as Kanibag hill. This dance reminds us of responsible and sustainable practice we humans should consciously undertake to counter the vanishing species of woodpeckers akin to biodiversity loss and rapid climate change. It is our hope that as performers we are able to inspire through movements and performances so that this generation and the next will protect our mother nature, our home.
