Treadle Grindstone show & tell / demo!
Showing off my fully restored treadle grindstone! Very proud of this piece, lots of hard work went into this restoration and I'm very happy with how it turned out and how well it woks. LESSONS LEARNED: Use them or not, don't matter to me, just passing on my experience (which is not vast by any stretch) 1. Don't listen to the "know it alls", pedal backwards, it's a whole lot cleaner! 2. Dry everything off and clean it up when you're done for the day. 3. Pedalling backwards also allows you to see and manage your edge sharpening. 4. The well is for catching the water dripped from the top, not holding water for the stone to "ride " through. 5. The more pressure you put on the tool, the more force you must pedal with. 6. Build a base you can sit your coffee on :-) 7. Have fun with it! Enjoy
