Kashmir Carpets Presentation
We visit Cottage Industries Exposition that sells very interesting and unique items, including handcrafted carpets. This multi-generational company sources silk from China and employs skilled hand weavers in Kashmir to make its carpets. We learn about traditional designs and patterns and how to clean and evaluate carpets. For example, while most people think that thick carpets are luxurious, it is thin carpers that are higher quality because their weave is denser. Even though they say that their carpets are meant to be walked on, these gorgeous carpets are more pieces of art than household furnishings.
