It was here that Lord Shiva and Arjuna fought, and Arjuna received the Pasupatastra. It is also believed that the Pandavas spent the last part of their exile here. Kinnar Kailash is also known as Banasur's Kailash. Located on the peaks of the snowy mountains, the natural Shivalinga here is 79 feet high. The Shivalinga of Kinnar Kailash resembles a trident. It is a large rock, similar to the idol of Shanidev in Shani Shingnapur. The most striking feature of this mountain is that the Shivalinga here changes color several times a day. It is white before sunrise, yellow at sunrise, and red at midday. Afterward, it turns yellow again, white again, and then black at dusk. No one has been able to understand the mystery of its changing colors till date. Some people believe that it is a crystalline formation and the rock appears to change color as the sun rays fall at different angles. Thousands of naturally growing Brahma Kamal flowers can be seen on Kinnar Kailash. Descriptions of these are also found in the Mahabharata period, and these flowers were very much liked by the gods. According to mythology, this place is also associated with Lord Shiva and Parvati. It is believed that Lord Shiva and Parvati met at this very place. Kinnar Kailash is very close to Parvati Kund. According to belief, this Kund was dug by Goddess Parvati.
