SEAN SCULLY 3/3 : Art Conviction and Dedication
Sean Scully feels like a sentinel, a bodyguard, he sees himself as a defender and is not at all bothered if he is in the minority. To occupy this singular role corresponds to its nature. Scully associates his paintings with an ethical position, without being dogmatic. His work is based on structural fidelity rather than a commercial concept. He explains how the color in his works is a color of modesty from which the inner light is to be extracted. Scully does not impose the interpretation that the public must have of his paintings but he underlines the seriousness of his work and cites Cézanne as a major influence. He finds similarities in temperament with the latter, highlighting their shared stubbornness. Scully considers his work extremely clear in structure while integrating emotion. He explains that his paintings contain great sensuality, kisses, caresses, wraps and collisions. For Sean Scully, his paintings are a metaphor for our world where everyone must negotiate or find their place. He provides insight into the challenge and obstacles facing young artists, saying that the journey to success in the arts is extremely difficult and uncertain. Scully encourages avoiding victimization and persevering despite the difficulties. He refers to his own experience with galleries and emphasizes that determination and paying the high price of an artistic life is necessary. In his personal beliefs, Sean Scully favors conviction over doubt. He is open to listening and learning, and he describes himself as politically centered, as he believes this position to be the most viable, unlike left-wing or right-wing ideologues. He is uninterested in opinions, preferring facts and history to form his point of view. Scully reiterates his faith in painting, his belief in its goodness, and emphasizes his immense commitment to this art form. 🔵 Watch Sean Scully’s full interview here 👉 • Playlist Watch the first part of the Sean Scully full interview here 👉 • SEAN SCULLY 1/3 : The Irish Smile that Cha... ⏱️⏱️ CHAPTERS ⏱️⏱️ 00:00 : Sean Scully Intro 00:34 : A Dedication to Edges 04:09 : Advice to Young Artists 06:11 : Humility, Doubt and Conviction 🔵 Directed and produced by Pierre de Montesquiou / montesquiou 🔵 🔎🔎 LINKS 🔎🔎 Sean Scully’s Instagram : / seanscullystudio Sean Scully’s Youtube channel : / @seanscullystudio8287 If you like this content please give us a 👍, 🔴 Subscribe↗and hit the 🔔 to be updated. ✒️You can also give us your thoughts⬇and we'll reply!
