This psalm represents the holy king and prophet David's reflection on the essence of sin and the destructiveness of its consequences. Psalm 35 "The wickedness of the wicked saith in my heart, There is no fear of God before his eyes: For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, And seeketh out his iniquity, That he may hate it: The words of his mouth are perverse and deceitful: He refuseth to understand, To do good: He deviseth iniquity upon his bed: He taketh up the way of evil: He abhorreth not evil. O Lord, Thy mercy reacheth unto the heavens, Thy faithfulness unto the clouds: Thy righteousness is as the mountains of God, And Thy judgments a great deep: Thou preservest man and beast, O Lord! How precious is Thy mercy, O God! The sons of men shall rest in the shadow of Thy wings: They shall be satisfied with the fatness of Thy house: And Thou wilt make them drink of the river of Thy delights: For with Thee is the fountain of life: In Thy light we see light. Continue Thy mercy Your love to those who know You, and Your righteousness to those who are upright in heart, let not the foot of pride tread upon me, nor the hand of the wicked cast me out.
