When she was faced with the ever-presence of Negan who is jailed in Alexandria, she contemplates forgiving him but is too angry from the loss of her father and decides to leave him jailed and decides to not forgive him for his past harmful actions. But after some time has passed, she reconsiders forgiving him and moving on with her life since the thought of killing him and getting revenge for all the hurt he created never leaves her mind. But as she remembers all that he put her through when he kidnapped, brainwashed, and forced her to hurt the people that she loved, she also remembers all of the questionable and immoral things that her father also did in the past in order to protect his people. Eventually, she realizes that no one in the apocalypse is free from inflicting pain on others, and she realizes that Negan has changed, or at least genuinely wants to try to change for the better. In order to be done with Negan forever, Judith releases him from prison. Although she forgives him for what he did, she makes a promise to never forget, and leaves. Still processing his release and wanting to visit the place that caused her pain for one last time, she visits the Sanctuary.
