Unlike conventional lithium-ion batteries, this technology uses a high-temperature electrochemical process involving carbon dioxide, solid carbon, and oxygen. During charging, excess electricity from solar panels and wind turbines is converted into chemical energy. When the grid needs electricity, the process is reversed, releasing electrons and returning usable energy to the system. But this battery does not create free energy, nor does it permanently remove CO₂ from the atmosphere. The carbon dioxide circulates within a closed chemical cycle.
