Brassica cage update | Ratatouille | Maincrop potatoes | Compost heaps

In this video I endeavour to do a little more progress on getting the greenhouse frame up and running by fixing together the base of the greenhouse. I also put down some bark chippings around the beds of the greenhouse frame. I make a ratatouille from the garden and allotment harvest in my slow cooker. I use my home grown aubergines, courgettes, onions, tomatoes, garlic, rosemary, peppers to make the ratatouille. I harvest all my main crop potatoes and restart my hot bin composter. I then go back to the allotment and get the greenhouse frame up with the help of my husband. Ratatouille Ingredients: 2 peppers (sliced) 2 courgettes, cut into chunks 2 aubergines, cut into chunks 2 red onions, cut into thick chunks 1 tbsp olive oil 4 garlic cloves 400g tin of chopped tomatoes 700g passata 1 handful of cherry tomatoes 2 sprigs fresh rosemary 2 sprigs fresh thyme 2 tbsp good quality balsamic vinegar fresh basil Method: Add everything to the slow cooker except the basil and cook on high heat for 3 and a half hours or slow for 6 hours. Garnish with basil once cooked and served with either/or salad, pasta and a crusty roll.
