Amzat Boukari-Yabara is a historian with a doctorate in History and Civilizations from the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (EHESS). His dissertation was titled: Walter Rodney (1942-1980): The Journey and Memory of an African Intellectual: Fragments of a Committed History of Pan-Africanism. He specializes in the history of Africa and Pan-Africanism. A writer, activist, and consultant, he is regularly invited by French and international media outlets to speak on these topics. He is the author of several books: *Nigeria*, De Boeck (2013); *Mali*, De Boeck (2015); *Africa Unite! A History of Pan-Africanism*, La Découverte (2017); and *Walter Rodney, a Committed Historian, 1942-1980*, Présences Africaines (2018). In this video interview, he presents the book "A History of Françafrique: The Empire That Refuses to Die," which he co-edited with Thomas Borrel, Benoît Collombat, and Thomas Deltombe. The book was published in 2021 by Éditions du Seuil and also in 2023 by Éditions Points (with a new afterword).
