One day in Bremerhaven 🇩🇪 GERMANY
One day in Bremerhaven! 🇩🇪 Bremerhaven is a city at the seaport of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen, a state of the Federal Republic of Germany. What to see in one day in Bremerhaven? •The Geestemünde timber harbor was a port in Geestemünde, today a district of Bremerhaven. Today it is an ornamental pond. •The Bremerhaven Historical Museum - formerly the Morgenstern Museum - is located between the Old Geeste Bridge and the Kennedy Bridge on the south bank of the Geeste and shows the history of Bremerhaven and its surroundings. •The Stadttheater Bremerhaven is a theatre in Bremerhaven, Germany. Founded in 1867, it serves three genres: opera and other musical theatre, spoken plays, and dance. A theatre built on the present site in 1911 was largely destroyed in World War II; a new house was built in 1952 which incorporated the surviving Jugendstil facade. The smaller Bürgerhaus Lehe, which served as a home before the rebuilding, is currently used as a venue for chamber pieces. •Theodor-Heuss-Platz, Bremerhaven Here you will find helpful places and nightlife options on and near Theodor-Heuss-Platz: parking spaces, hotels, restaurants and other services such as ATMs. •The museum harbor is the oldest port, the nucleus, of the seaside town of Bremerhaven, which was founded in 1827 by the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen at the mouth of the Weser and on the northern bank of the Geeste. In 1830, what is now known as the Old Harbor was opened with a chamber lock, allowing Bremen to maintain its importance as a seaport and trading metropolis. •Willy-Brandt-Platz is a square in Bremerhaven on Seebäderkaje in the New Harbor and covers approximately 13,000 m². It is part of the Havenwelten and was given its current form in 2012/2013. It is named after the former Federal Chancellor Willy Brandt. •The Bremerhaven Zoo (officially Zoo am Meer, which is German for Zoo next to the Sea) is located next to the river Weser and exhibits mainly species which live in the water or in northern environments; exceptions are, for instance, chimpanzees and White-headed marmosets. •Schulschiff Deutschland ("School Ship Germany") is a German full-rigged sail training ship, maintained as a historical monument and museum ship. She was employed as a school ship for the merchant marine beginning in 1927. The ship is moored at the Neuer Hafen in Bremerhaven, in the Federal State of Bremen, Germany. •The German Emigration Center is a museum located in Bremerhaven, Germany dedicated to the history of German emigration, especially to the United States. It is Europe's largest theme museum about emigration. Visitors can experience the emigration process through interactive exhibits. The museum also provides access to databases of immigration records. •The Mayor Smidt Memorial Church in Bremerhaven belongs to a congregation of the United Churches made up of Lutherans and Reformed Churches. Belonging to the Bremen Evangelical Church from the beginning, it is still the only parish of this regional church in Bremerhaven. The correct name of the “Great Church” is United Protestant Congregation for Mayor Smidt Memorial Church. Since 1927, Bremerhaven's main church, like the main shopping street (“The Citizens” for short), has been named after Mayor Johann Smidt. •Werftbrunnen - Long fountain basin with three columns on which statues of workers on a shipyard. •The German Maritime Museum is a museum in Bremerhaven, Germany. It is part of the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Scientific Community. The main museum building was opened on 5 September 1975 by then-president of Germany Walter Scheel, though scientific work already had started in 1971. In 2000, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the museum, the Hansekogge, a ship constructed around 1380 that was found in the Weser river in 1962, was presented to the public after having undergone a lengthy process of conservation in a large preservative-filled basin. •U-2540 German submarine Wilhelm Bauer is a Type XXI U-boat of Nazi Germany's navy (Kriegsmarine), completed shortly before the end of World War II. It was scuttled at the end of the war, having never gone on patrol. In 1957, it was raised from the seabed off Flensburg Firth, refurbished, and recommissioned for use by the West-German Bundesmarine in 1960. Finally retired fully in 1983, it is the only floating example of a Type XXI U-boat. It has been modified to appear in wartime configuration and exhibited at the German Maritime Museum in Bremerhaven, Germany. #bremerhaven #germany #deutschland #bremen #walking #walkingbremerhaven #onedayinbremerhaven #tourbremerhaven #bremerhavenstadt #bremerhavencity #daytripsfrombremerhaven #placestovisitneargermany #bestcitiesingermany #germanybeautifulplaces #germanybeautifulcity #beautifulcityintheworld #mostbeautifulcitiesineurope
