The event will feature Clemente Flores, a Kolla community member and leader of the El Angosto Indigenous Community (El Moreno, Tumbaya, Jujuy), whose career is deeply intertwined with community organizing, the defense of territorial rights, the preservation of cultural heritage, and the protection of the natural resources of the Salinas Grandes Basin and Guayatayoc Lagoon. 🔎 The discussion aims to open a space for dialogue on the multiple dimensions of heritage, starting with the restitution of the Wawa del Chañi (Children of Chañi). What does it mean to safeguard heritage? Who protects it? How are the memories, knowledge, and cultural practices that sustain community life communicated? In May 2026, Flores participated in the community efforts that enabled the repatriation of the Wawa del Chañi, an indigenous ancestor found in 1905 on the Chañi Mountain and preserved for over a century in the Juan B. Ambrosetti Ethnographic Museum. The repatriation was a historic event for the Andean communities of the region and a milestone in the processes of recovering collective memories, heritage, and rights. 📢 This activity is organized by the Heritage Communication Management Chair of the Tourism Communication Management program at the Faculty of Communication Sciences (FCC-UNC) and the research project “Narratives in (con)conversation: Communicating Health and Environmental Care Practices from Feminist and Situated Perspectives” (Secyt), in collaboration with the Tourism, Heritage, and Environment research team (FHyCS-UNJu) within the framework of the FORTALECER Project (FIP 2025-2028) “Tourism, Intangible Cultural Heritage, and the Environment: The Case of the Tourist Train, Between Object and Subjects.
