CROCHET BABY BLANKET EASY TWO ROW REPEAT

This baby blanket is a perfect project for beginners to try. It is worked using an easy two row repeat. The yarn is by Hayfield from their Baby Blossom Chunky range. My blanket measures 80cm x 100cm (31" x 39") I used a total of 5 x 100g balls, an 8mm hook although 6.5mm is the recommended hook size. I would advise you try a swatch first to see which hook size you prefer. If you wish to crochet the blanket without a border your starting ch can be any even number. However if you wish to use the border, the starting chains need to be in multiples of 4. As you skip the 1st ch and sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, the stitch count for your first row will be in multiples of 4 plus 3. The rows also need to be worked in multiples of 4 plus 3 to ensure the border can be worked evenly. I made a chain of 80 for this blanket and it measures 80cm x 1m or 31" x 39" approx..without the border. The pretty variegated yarn adds elements of surprise throughout the blanket as all the beautiful colours emerge and dance across the blanket. A big thank you to Rebekah from Blossom Crochet for introducing me to this yarn.
