On Thursday, April 30, 2026, Mayor John W. Ewing, Jr. held a press conference to gather business owners, community members and streetcar project partners for a celebratory rail-signing event. The event officially kicked off the This Way campaign, which will use wayfinding signage, digital messaging and social media to help people navigate the corridor, find parking and plan their next meal or shopping spree. The mayor also announced the launch of Park Omaha's $1 parking initiative, which is providing $1 parking sessions to corridor business employees in two downtown garages and one surface lot in the Blackstone District. Business owners, community members and streetcar project partners were invited to sign a 3-foot segment of rail to commemorate the start of Omaha streetcar rail installation.
