Finishing Basement #19: DIY Stair Railing | Farmhouse Iron Baluster & Newel Post Installation

In this video we build our stair railing for the basement. We chose to go with a horizontal iron baluster design with a walnut wood newel post. This video includes a step by step tutorial on how to build this basement stair railing. It was pretty easy to build and turned out amazing! It was free for us to build because the walnut post and board was harvested from a tree on our farm that we cut up on our sawmill. The 5/8in steel rods that we used for the balusters were left over from our farmhouse build. We purchased the steel rods from our local metal fabricating company for super cheap! Shop local when doing home renovations and DIY projects because it's way cheaper and you can often get remnants or leftover stuff for almost free (an you're supporting a small and local business!)
