Abajo breve reseña histórica en español.👇 Historical review in English. Teruel is a city in the autonomous community of Aragón, in eastern Spain. Located in a high-altitude mountainous area, it is famous for its classic Mudejar architecture, a style that combines Gothic and Islamic elements. An example of a Mudejar monument would be the cathedral of Santa María de Mediavilla (dating back to the 12th century), with its elaborate paintings on the ceiling. The Torre del Salvador also shares the Mudejar style, which dates back to the 14th century. It has an intricate façade and stairs that lead to the top. In 1533, in the Church of San Pedro in Teruel, two mummies were found under the floor of the chapel of Saints Cosmas and Damian, and it was considered that these belonged to the legendary lovers, although it was not possible to verify if this was true. The chapel where they were found was renamed the Chapel of the Lovers and, in 1955, due to the popularity of the tombs and the volume of tourists, the mummies were transferred to two new Teruel es una ciudad de la comunidad autónoma de Aragón, en el este de España. La capilla donde fueron encontradas pasó a llamarse Capilla de los Amantes y, en 1955, debido a la popularidad de las tumbas y al volumen de turistas, las momias fueron trasladadas a dos nuevos sarcófagos esculpidos en alabastro por Juan de Ávalos.[6]
