Kamikaze || Mulan x Shan Yu

STORY IN DESCRIPTION: »This was a request from NightMelody777, who wanted to see this song paired with a story where Shan Yu dies protecting Mulan. Hope you like it, dear! »Secondly, this story uses a bit of deleted lore about Shan Yu. Originally in the movie, he was supposed to be a Shaman who could see through his falcons eyes. PLOT: Mulan visits the statue of Shan Yu day after day, mourning his loss. Flashback After saving the Chinese army from the huns, Mulan is discovered as a woman, disgraced and abandoned. As she freezes to death in the wilderness, Shan Yu’s falcon flies over the battlefield and sees her. Shan Yu finds her, and she prepares for death, but instead he gives her a sword and a fighting chance to live. A timeskip, and Mulan is bathed, fed and well again, warmly greeting Shan Yu as he visits her. They have become lovers in the timeskip, and on one of their travels he proposes to her with the gift of a hair piece. She accepts, and on the way back they are ambushed by rebel Huns who mutiny. They fight the traitors off and chase them across a bridge until their attackers cut the ropes and they fall. Shan Yu see’s through his falcons eyes, and sees the rope holding them is breaking under both their weight, so he lets go to save Mulan. Horrified, Mulan watches him fall to his death. End Flashback Back in the garden, Mulan mournes under his statue when the falcon shows up. With a flash of light it bonds to her the way it had bonded to Shan Yu, accepting her as its new master. Mulan opens her glowing eyes, imbued with the power that had once belonged to her lover. The Shamanic Hun leader may be dead, but there’s a new leader in town. MISC: » So this was my most experimental video, mostly with colour; matching scenes brighteness and intensity to Mulans’ emotional state etc. Idk if it wa a success, but I like the result! » Fun fact, the ghostly face of Shang kept fuckin rendering in between the scene cuts, and it was a pain in the ass.
