The plan was simple: cut down a Christmas tree, decorate the dome, open a few presents, and spend the night surrounded by snow to see how well everything would hold up in cold temperatures. In this video, I walk through the upgrades we’ve made to our wood stove, including a fresh air intake, and explain why that makes such a big difference when heating a small space. We also test our off-grid setup using an EcoFlow battery to power lights, devices, Christmas decorations, and even a movie night. Overnight, we experiment with running a diesel heater alongside the wood stove to see if it can keep the dome comfortable without constant fire tending. Spending the day outside, then warming up inside the dome really showed us how much this space has unlocked winter as a season on our property.
