Why You Should Like Musical Theatre | Stephen Louis | TEDxRoyalCentralSchool
Ever wonder why musicals are the way they are? RCSSD student Stephen Louis explains the underlying principles that make musical theatre not only make sense, but allow it to succeed as high art. He then goes on to explain how these same fundamental principles apply to all forms of performative storytelling. Stephen Louis is a member of the BA Acting – Musical Theatre class of 2020 at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Originally from Houston, Texas, Stephen is also an Advanced Actor Combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors, Actor Combatant with the British Academy of Stage and Screen Combat, and serves as the A/C Representative on the Executive Committee with the latter. Besides theatre, Stephen is an active nerdfighter, stand-up bass player, and trivia enthusiast. He is represented by Beresford Management. Stephen Louis is a 3rd year student on the BA Acting – Musical Theatre course at the Royal Central School. He grew up doing theatre in his hometown of Houston, Texas, spent a year studying Theatre Performance at the University of Evansville, Indiana, and then after a year of working at home, found his way to London. Besides just acting, Stephen is an Advanced Actor Combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors, and beginning in 2020 will serve as the Actor Combatant Representative on the Executive Committee of the British Academy of Stage Screen Combat, with whom he intends on applying to become a Certified Teacher in the summer.
