Memorial for Athos Costas
Video Tribute to Athos Costas, a legendary figure in the Bahá’í community of South America. A teacher, pioneer, and tireless Counselor. Between 1953 and 1965, he was a member of the regional institutions that preceded the National Assemblies, and later served on the National Spiritual Assembly of Bolivia. He then served as a member of the Auxiliary Body between 1965 and 1968. When the Continental Counselors’ Bodies were formed in 1968 to continue the delicate task of the Hands of the Cause of God (the propagation and protection of the Faith), Mr. Athos Costas was appointed by the Universal House of Justice as one of the inaugural members. He made a significant contribution, together with his beloved wife Angélica and his children, in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay. He was a very close friend of the Bahá’í community in Peru.
