130+ MPH pursuit - TROOPER SLAMS INTO HOUSE, suspect flees w/ baby in car

Portions of police report: On 06/19/2026, around 10:14 a.m., I, Trooper Jonathan Nutt # 336, was stationary on the northbound shoulder of Interstate N 530, south of exit 27, in Jefferson County. I observed a white passenger car (2023 white Honda Accord) approaching my location at an estimated speed of 95 MPH. I activated my RADAR and obtained a speed of 101 MPH in a posted 75 MPH zone. I then activated my blue lights and siren as I attempted to catch up to the vehicle to conduct a traffic stop. The operator of the vehicle, later identified as Rodney Shavers, pulled the vehicle to the right shoulder and stopped just before mile marker 27. As I exited my vehicle and approached the Honda, Mr. Shavers accelerated and began to flee northbound. The pursuit encountered moderate traffic on Interstate 30, and Mr. Shavers drove his vehicle on the right shoulder, passing other motorists, at speeds exceeding 110 MPH. Mr. Shavers exited the Interstate onto W. 65th Street (exit 135), which leads to the urban area of Little Rock. Sergeant Pitchford and I were unable to take exit 135, so we momentarily discontinued the pursuit. We then took exit 134 and drove towards W. 65th Street. Troopers Dustin Medford, James Booth, and Noel Lyons were able to follow Mr. Shavers onto exit ramp 135. Trooper Dustin Medford took over as primary, Trooper James Booth became secondary, and Trooper Noel Lyons was third as a support unit. Mr. Shavers turned right and began traveling on W. 65th Street at speeds exceeding 100 MPH in a posted 40 MPH zone. Mr. Shavers then drove through the Sky Road gas station parking lot at the intersection of Lancaster Road and W. 65th Street before driving south on Lancaster Road. Mr. Shavers drove on Lancaster Road at speeds of over 55 MPH in a posted 30 MPH zone. As Mr. Shavers turned on S. Wakefield Drive, Troopers Medford and Lyons were unable to make the turn. Trooper Lyons then drove into the yard at 5201 S. Wakefield Drive. Trooper Booth then continued as the primary unit. Mr. Shavers then stopped the vehicle at the intersection of South Wakefield Drive and Westmar Lane, where he exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Trooper Booth pursued Mr. Shavers on foot, north on Westmar Lane. Mr. Shavers ran across Wycliffe Drive and into the yard of 5403 Wycliffe Drive. At that time, Mr. Shavers climbed the backyard fence, and Trooper Booth successfully deployed his TASER energy weapon (TASER), resulting in the neuromuscular incapacitation of Mr. Shavers. Mr. Shavers was then taken into custody by responding Troopers without further incident. Mr. Shavers was then escorted to a patrol unit. During our brief interaction, I could smell a strong odor of intoxicants about his person. Shavers stated that he was not the driver of the Honda Accord and that he could not identify the alleged driver. He also stated that the vehicle was not his. Troopers who responded to the intersection of South Wakefield Drive and Westmar Lane encountered Briyanna Jenkins, front-seat passenger, and a juvenile (2 months old baby), Mr. Shavers was then transported to the W.C. “Dub” Brassell Detention Center (Jefferson County). Mr. Shavers was led to the blood alcohol content (BAC) breathalyzer testing room. While waiting for the detention Deputy to unlock the room, Mr. Shavers stated that he was not taking any test. I then reconfirmed Mr. Shaver's verbal refusal to take a breath test, and he stated: "that he would not and that he was drunk”. Mr. Shavers was previously convicted of driving while intoxicated on 08/13/2025 5-54-125 Fleeing – Vehicle or Conveyance – Exceeding the speed limit (Felony C) 5-27-205 Endangering the welfare of a minor – 1st degree (Felony D) 5-11-102 Kidnapping (Felony Y) 5-54-125 Fleeing – On foot (Misdemeanor C) 5-65-103 Driving while intoxicated – 2nd offense (Misdemeanor) 5-65-205 Refuse chemical test (Misdemeanor) 27-50-302 Reckless driving (Misdemeanor A) 27-51-201 Speeding greater than 15 MPH (Misdemeanor) 5-71-218 Open container containing alcohol in motor vehicle (Misdemeanor) 27-51-104 Careless and prohibited driving 27-16-303 driving while license suspended 5-65-123 Interlock violation 27-51-104 Improper or unsafe lane change 27-51-307 Improper passing on the left 27-51-308 Improper passing on the right
