Olga Anderson, Funding Futures Fellow, presents on the process and results of a year-long listening campaign and balloting process she and her core team led in Philmont/Claverack, NY in '25/'26. www.sustainhv.org/together-we-decide Funding Futures: Together We Decide was a pilot program run by The Understory (formerly Partners for Climate Action) that offered grants, technical assistance and peer-to-peer support for a cohort of six towns, all engaged in direct democracy processes. The purpose was to learn how residents of each town wanted to improve their communities, steward their land, air and water and find consensus. Campaigns also took place in the following Hudson Valley towns: Chatham, Millbrook/Washington, Rochester, Woodbury and Philmont/Claverack. The 1-year listening campaign portion of Funding Futures: Together We Decide drew to a close at the end of June 2026. The Understory now invites groups from the six communities to submit letters of interest (LOI) for Funding Futures: Gameplan. This Phase 2 of Funding Futures focuses on capacity building: organizing people power, developing project action plans, and determining financial viability for projects that appeared on listening campaign ballots.
