I just got Mexico Temporary Residency. Here’s what we learned.

After years of traveling between the U.S. and Puerto Vallarta, Stefan finally completed Mexico Temporary Residency through Family Unity. In this video, we walk through our real experience step-by-step, including: • Why Ada’s Mexican citizenship made this pathway possible • How we obtained and apostilled our U.S. marriage certificate • Registering our marriage in Mexico • Applying through the Mexican Consulate in Houston • Receiving the residency visa sticker • Completing the canje process with INM in Puerto Vallarta • Lessons we learned along the way We also discuss why starting the process at the Houston consulate worked better for us than trying to begin directly in Mexico, and how rules, timing, and procedures can change depending on the office and situation. For those pursuing residency through family unity (“Unidad Familiar”), this pathway may eventually provide a route toward Permanent Residency and potentially Mexican citizenship over time.
