Seattle Sound Transit Link Light Rail-The Brand New Siemens S70 Trains In Service!

#NYRailfan #SoundTransit The current Line 1 fleet consists of 62 low-floor light rail vehicles manufactured in Japan by Kinkisharyo and the newly bought Siemens S70 which entered service this year(2021). Here are some actions/interior/announcements of the brand new Siemens S70 fleet for the Sound Transit Link Light Rail. This fleet is used on the Line 1 Central Link that runs from Angle Lake to the University of Washington. Currently, one set has been going into service according to my observation. The Siemens S700 and its similar predecessor the S70, also known as the Avanto, is a low-floor light-rail vehicle (LRV) or streetcar manufactured by Siemens Mobility, a division of Siemens AG. The S70 and S700 are built for the United States market where the vehicles are in use on several light rail and streetcar systems. The S70 was manufactured from 2002 to 2017 and the S700 from 2014 to present, but the model designation S700 was only introduced in 2019 and then retroactively applied to certain versions of the S70 built in earlier years. In this field, it competes mainly with Bombardier and Kinki Sharyo low-floor LRVs and modern streetcars manufactured by Inekon and Brookville Equipment Corporation. The Sound Transit Link light rail system currently encompasses two lines with 21.95 miles (35.33 km) of track and 22 stations. The two lines, which have no direct connection, are Line 1 between Seattle, Tukwila, and SeaTac; and Line T in central Tacoma. Sound Transit Link light rail trains carried 23 million passengers in 2017, averaging 71,058 on weekdays, making it the 10th-busiest light rail system in the United States. Line 1, formerly Central Link, is a light rail line serving Seattle, SeaTac, and Tukwila, using trains of two to four cars that each carry 194 passengers. It connects the University of Washington and Downtown Seattle to the Rainier Valley and Seattle–Tacoma International Airport, using tunnels, elevated guideways, and surface-running sections. The line carries 23 million passengers annually and 72,000 on an average weekday, making it the busiest transit route in the Seattle region. The initial 13.9-mile (22.4 km) segment of the line was opened on July 18, 2009, connecting the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel (a facility shared with buses until 2019) to Tukwila International Boulevard station. The line has since been expanded three times and spans 20.35 miles (32.8 km) as of September 26, 2016. Shot on May 18th, 2021 *All clips in this video were filmed by me.
