Centcom: US blockade on Iran resumes Tuesday afternoon

At the direction of President Donald Trump, American military forces will restart operations to block vessels from using Iranian ports and coasts, U.S. Central Command confirmed Monday. Operations will officially resume at 4 p.m. EDT, following a formal notice period for commercial mariners. In addition to restarting the blockade, Trump announced on live television that the United States will become the "guardian" of the Strait of Hormuz, a key oil trade route obstructed by Iran during the war. “We’re going to keep the strait and we’ll probably run it. We’ll become the guardian of the strait. Maybe you’ll call it the guardian angel of the strait. And we should be reimbursed for that. When we do that, we’re going to be reimbursed because the other nations are very wealthy. They're on our side and we can't be expected to do that for nothing," Trump told Fox News on Monday morning. _______________ Stay up to date with our social media: WOAI on Instagram:   / news4sa   WOAI on Facebook:   / news4sa   WOAI on Twitter:   / news4sa   Subscribe to WOAI on YouTube:    / @woaivideo   Daily News Playlist:    • Playlist   For more information, visit https://news4sanantonio.com/ Have a news tip?
