I Wasn’t Ready For Texas’s Most Conservative County
I knew Texas was huge, but this video made me realize just how different life can be from one county to another. Today I reacted to a video about Borden County, Texas, described as one of the most conservative counties in America, with only a tiny number of Democratic votes in the 2024 election. But what surprised me most was not only the politics. It was the everyday life: no grocery store, no traffic lights, no alcohol sales, long drives between places, and a community where everyone seems to know everyone. In this reaction, I watch a video exploring life in rural West Texas, inside Borden County and the small county seat of Gail. The video talks about remote Texas life, conservative politics, dry counties, oil country, small-town culture, rural communities, and what it feels like to visit a place with only around 600 people. Borden County had a 2020 Census population of 631, and in the 2024 presidential election, the county voted overwhelmingly Republican, with 370 votes for Donald Trump and 16 votes for Kamala Harris. That makes the political contrast extremely clear, but the video also shows a human side of the county through local people, hospitality, football culture, and everyday survival in such a remote part of Texas. From my Finnish perspective, this was such an interesting look at America because the scale is hard to understand. A county being a smaller region inside a state makes sense, but Texas itself is so massive that even one county can feel like a whole different world. I was also surprised by the dry county idea, because being able to vote on alcohol sales at that local level feels very different from what I am used to. Even though the title sounds very political, the video felt just as much about rural life, isolation, community, and how people live in places that are far away from everything. What do you think life in a place like Borden County is really like? Would you enjoy the peace, space, and close community, or would the distance from grocery stores, hospitals, gas stations, and city life be too much? Let me know in the comments, especially if you are from rural Texas or another very small American county. ✨ Follow & Support 🎥 Twitch: / finnishgirlreacts 📸 Instagram: @this.is.saini ☕ Support the channel: https://buymeacoffee.com/finnishgirl 🎁 Amazon Wishlist: https://www.amazon.es/hz/wishlist/ls/...
