This Ramadan's long journey was truly an extraordinary experience for us. Omar, my family, and I traveled overland from Muara Teweh (Central Kalimantan) to Balikpapan (East Kalimantan). We traveled leisurely for approximately 18 hours. Because it was Ramadan, we stopped several times to pray, rest, and break our fast along the way. Along the way, we passed hundreds of villages, traversed seven districts, and even crossed three provinces on the island of Kalimantan. Each region had its own unique atmosphere. There were long roads through the Kalimantan jungle, small villages along the roadside, and bustling cities. This is what makes a road trip in Kalimantan feel so long, full of stories, and always interesting to witness. With Omar and my family, this trip became an unforgettable memory. From the quiet roads, the natural scenery of Kalimantan, to the simple moments of breaking the fast along the way.
