XAVIER CORBERÓ IN-DEPTH COMPLETE AND RESTORED EDITION - April 9, 1976 - 32 min. Xavier Corberó i Olivella (Barcelona, ​​1935 - Esplugues de Llobregat, April 24, 2017). He studied at the Massana School in Barcelona and the Central School of Arts and Crafts in London, to "learn the trade, which can be used to make crafts or works of art." He was influenced by Pablo Gargallo and Henry Moore. He participated in the 1955 Hispano-American Biennial and in the May Salons in Barcelona, ​​where he won the Manolo Hugué (1960) and Ramon Rogent (1961) awards. In 1963, he held his first solo exhibition in Munich, where he received the gold medal from the state of Bavaria. He has exhibited in various European countries, New York, and Japan, and his works are on display at the MoMA in New York, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. He resided alternately in Paris, Barcelona, ​​and New York, and created a complex in Esplugues de Llobregat designed to serve as an artist's residence and workshop, the "CAYAC Workshops - Corberó Center for Artistic Activities and Research." He was only 40 years old when he participated in A FONDO: "A sculpture won't be a sculpture if, in addition to resembling a horse, it doesn't resemble itself." He played a prominent role as an advisor to Barcelona City Council in the selection of sculptures by internationally renowned artists to be placed in the city's streets and squares for the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games.
