This Patio Was Sitting Over a Massive Hurricane Washout
This beachfront concrete patio slab had major soil washout underneath it. From the surface, the concrete still looked usable, but large voids had formed below the slab and several sections had already started to sink. We drilled small holes into the concrete and injected expanding polyurethane foam underneath the slab. The foam spread through the empty spaces, filled the voids, stabilized the soil, and carefully lifted the sunken concrete back into place. Some areas needed lifting, while other sections were still level and only needed void filling to prevent future sinking. We monitored the slab closely during the repair so we could stabilize the concrete without lifting sections that were already in the correct position. By the end of the job, we had raised the sunken sections by around 2 inches, filled the hidden voids, and restored support underneath the patio without removing or replacing the concrete. Polyurethane foam injection is a fast and effective option for repairing sinking concrete caused by soil erosion, storm damage, and washout. It can be used for patios, pool decks, driveways, sidewalks, walkways, and other concrete slabs.
