He was the superior of the Dominican Order from 1992 to 2001. His book "What Is the Point of Being a Christian?" won the 2007 Michael Ramsey Award for theological writing, and his recent books are "Alive in God: A Christian Imagination" (2019) and "Questioning God" (2023), co-authored with Lukasz Popka OP. His books have been translated into 24 languages, and he holds honorary doctorates from Oxford University and twelve other universities. He is a board member of the Las Casas Institute for Social Justice at Oxford University. He was a lecturer at the Mediterranean Theological Meetings in Lovran in 2003, organized by the Archdiocese of Rijeka. On that occasion, Hrvoje Katušić spoke with him.
