Earl Sweatshirt's Forgotten Masterpiece
What I like the most about Earl is the way that he intricately expresses his Trauma through his lyricism. Even without reading his backstory, we all know that he had a tough relationship with both of his parents, his grandmother has always been his rock and that he’s found himself in the abyss of soul searching in his journey of life. Apart from his journey of soul searching produced an EP called Solace. The experimental hip hop EP was uploaded to his unofficial YouTube channel dar Qness on April 28, 2015. Many of us didn’t expect it, nor knew what to make of it, especially the first listen around. Solace brings us through the emotional rollercoaster of being at rock bottom. Earl uses the medium of creating music to get out of this abyss. Although this EP isn’t on streaming services nor his official channel, I think that it is an essential piece to his career. Earl was able to bring his emotions to the table, once again. By translating this mental state into sound, he showed thousands of others that they are not alone. For Inquiries - [email protected]
