This is a 55-minute video of the grand parade on Sunday afternoon, June 28, 2026, which I filmed with my Panasonic Lumix FZ 1000 in 4K on a raised tripod to get a better view of the spectators. I was positioned on Greifengasse, located between the Mittlerebrücke bridge and Claraplatz. The parade started passing through this area at 2:24 PM and ended at 4:12 PM, for a total of 1 hour and 48 minutes. From the very beginning, free water was being distributed to everyone, which was a really nice touch given the afternoon heat. There was another distribution during the parade and also at the end. These were 50cl bottles of still or sometimes sparkling water. I had left Mulhouse that morning on the 11:19 AM TER train. I arrived on site by tram 8 around 12:10 PM and by 12:19 PM I was ready with my recording equipment. There was shade and a slight breeze, which was pleasant. I had also brought food and three thermoses of cold water from home. I could sit on my stepladder. All in all, I wasn't bored waiting because there were other people nearby. Since I speak German, there were no communication problems. I had also brought an umbrella to protect myself from the sun during the parade when there was no shade. It was also to protect my Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 from the heat. The trams along the parade route stopped running at 2:00 PM. However, some vintage trams continued to run during the parade. After the parade and putting everything back in my shopping cart, I walked back to the market square (Marktplatz) via the Mittlerebrücke. In the Rhine, I could see many swimmers with their dry bags. I managed to catch tram number 11, which goes via the SBB train station. The tram was packed. I was able to catch a regional train (TER) departing at 5:21 PM. After a wait of over half an hour, I met a young Brazilian student couple on their way to Besançon who had cycled around Basel and even swum in the Rhine. In short, it was an interesting day in Basel with the grand Yodeling Parade. Animals had been planned for the parade, but at the last minute, it was canceled because the pavement was too hot for their paws.
