🚆 In this episode of Rail Away, we discover the heart of Wallonia. From the village of Spontin, we board a historic train for a ride along the famous Bocq railway, a museum line that has been brought back to life thanks to dozens of volunteers. The route follows the winding river Bocq through a landscape of castles, forests, limestone cliffs, and picturesque Ardennes villages. Along the way, we discover the rich history of this railway, which was originally built for the transport of passengers as well as limestone from the many quarries in the region. We also visit the tram museum in Thuin, where historic local trams still run just as they did over a century ago. We take a ride on an authentic tram through the Belgian countryside and experience a piece of transport history up close. Next, we travel to Namur, the capital of Wallonia. Here, we explore the impressive citadel overlooking the city and discover how the Meuse formed the economic and cultural heart of the region for centuries. We continue driving along the Meuse towards Dinant, perhaps one of the most beautiful cities in Belgium. With its high cliffs, colorful facades, and rich history, Dinant forms a worthy conclusion to this episode. Naturally, we also pay tribute to the city's most famous resident: Adolphe Sax, the inventor of the saxophone. And as if that weren't enough, this journey ends with a special activity: a railbike tour right through the nature of the Ardennes.
