Welcome back to XIII, a stealth-action game developed by Ubisoft with Cell-Shaded graphics and a comic-book aesthetic. This game, which features gunfights, combat, explosive action, and stealth with a unique visual narrative style, follows an Assassin known only by the moniker XIII, who was somehow involved in the assassination of President Sheridan and winds up on a beach with no recollection of anything after suffering a bullet wound on his last mission. Now, he must uncover the truth of who he is and why he is being chased by mercenaries. This version of the game is a remake of a 2003 title of the same name, and bears major visual and minor gameplay updates to make it more relevant to this day and age. After discovering their nefarious plans of performing a Coup de Tat on the United States leadership to turn into a dictatorial regime under the SPADS and impose martial law, Jason Fly and General Carrington alongside Colonel Amos of the FBI decide to pay a visit to Senator William Sheridan to keep him updated about their findings. Turns out, that ground zero for the XX's Operation Total Red will be none other than a secret military base in Maryland known only as the SSH-1. Luckily, Senator Sheridan has access to the base and agrees to take XIII there with him disguised as Colonel Marshall under the guise of a financial audit. Once there, Jason's objective would be to find the Missile Bunkers and stop the attack that the Conspiracy calls Operation Total Red. He tried infiltrating through the main route with William but he was stopped at the entrance since the President did not want him there. Hence, he had to find a more roundabout way through backrooms and areas with restricted access where he would be eliminated if caught, Total Red would be a success and the USA would be doomed. After making his way into the facility, XIII finds himself in the midst of a trap set up by none other than General Standwell, otherwise known as Number III within the XX. To add on top of existing troubles, Operation Total Red is currently in effect and President Galbrain has been taken hostage along with other members of the democratic structure that are currently present within the facility. Now, Jason must eliminate Standwell, rescue Galbrain, and leave him with some GIs for safekeeping. He must then head straight to the control centre to stop the attack. However, upon reaching the command centre, one of the members of the Conspiracy, Number II decides to go down with his secrets and see his side of things to the end by eliminating himself in front of Fly's eyes. Now, Fly must try and abort the launch sequence before it is too late. Jason uses some vents to reach the mission control but finds the console rigged to blow with a bomb. However, digital equipment requires electricity and Jason decides to simply destroy the generators powering the facility instead, effectively foiling Total Red and averting a national crisis. On his way back to the entrance, he finds himself face-to-face with the Mongoose and his pair of miniguns. After a prolonged fight in the midst of countless missiles, he manages to shoot him down to the bottom of the liquid coolants at the base of the silo. With that crisis averted, the only pertinent question that now remains is the mystery behind Jason's true identity and his past. However, General Carrington had no idea about his background and recruited him solely for his skills. He was instead, referred to an undisclosed woman who held clues to his past and essentially recommended him to Carrington in the first place. Reportedly, she would also be attending Senator Sheridan's party aboard the Yacht Lady Bee. Upon heading to the party, he is greeted by many familiar faces and they are all eager to talk to him. Before he could properly socialise though, fireworks took the attention of people aboard the yacht and he is instructed by Colonel Amos of the FBI to find William Sheridan. When he tries to go find the man, he hears XVII crying about her child and begging Sheridan to return it to her. Meanwhile, the ship looks increasingly similar to the vessel that he had to jump off before he lost his memory. When he heads to the very bottom, he is greeted by a familiar glass-partitioned office and enters it to unlock a flashback, realising that Number I in the organisation is no one other than William Sheridan himself. That is when Willy walks up to him and the things are left on a cliffhanger.
