Female-led funeral directors bucking several trends in male-dominated industry | ITV News
Watch more from our series How We Die, where we look at a subject many of us don't like to talk about - and the people doing things differently around end-of-life care and funerals https://bit.ly/2UEc6Q2 In the male-dominated industry of funeral directing, it’s unusual to see a team led almost exclusively by women - but Poppy’s Funerals in south west London is doing just that. "We have a team of 10 women and one man. Genuinely 10-1," says business owner Poppy Mardell - though she insists it didn't happen on purpose. "If anything we would like more men to apply for the jobs we post, we want our team to reflect the people that we care for so we want it to be as diverse as possible," she says. Poppy, who quit her role at Sotheby's in 2012 to set up the business, says "dealing with dead bodies is definitely quite different from working in an auction house". • Subscribe to ITV News on YouTube: http://bit.ly/2lOHmNj • Get breaking news and more stories at http://www.itv.com/news Follow ITV News on Facebook: / itvnews Follow ITV News on Twitter: / itvnews Follow ITV News on Instagram: / itvnews
