CBC TV announcer Minami Tomohiro was appointed as a one-day police chief and called for safe bicycle use. The Moriyama Police Station of the Aichi Prefectural Police appointed Minami Tomohiro, well-known for her "bicycle trips" visiting famous places in the Tokai region (Aichi, Gifu, and Mie prefectures) by bicycle, as a one-day police chief in an effort to further reduce bicycle accidents. She called for the use of lights at night and other safety measures. The "blue ticket system" for bicycles began on the 1st of last month, and in Aichi Prefecture, there were 257 arrests last month, with "failure to stop at a stop sign" being the most common offense at 188 cases.
