A Draped RH Chair, Brutalist Spanish Chairs & an Olive Mural in a Cotswolds-Inspired LA Cottage

Interior designer and Drew Barrymore Show design expert Mikel Welch shares the richly layered living and dining spaces inside his Cotswolds-inspired 1920s Tudor cottage in Los Angeles. In the living room, original ceiling beams, a chocolate brown velvet sofa, a travertine coffee table inspired by 1950s design, brutalist Spanish chairs from the Pasadena Rose Bowl flea market, a Rembrandt print, and a vintage RH chair dramatically draped in a drop cloth create the moody, theatrical atmosphere Mikel calls "primitive modern." Through to the dining room — wrapped entirely in an olive green mural wallpaper that makes the cascading papier-mâché greenery look three-dimensional — an antique table that has traveled from New York to California and curved modern dining chairs complete the picture.
