I'm working on a very wide and panoramic format and I’ll be using acrylics and a bit of mixed media in the form of pencils and crayons. I will show you all the different stages the abstract landscapes go through from beginning to end. The inspiration for the paintings is the view near my house of hills and distant patches of trees. The feeling I want to convey with these two paintings is how I felt recently as I climbed a tall hill and watched a spectacular sunset. I don’t want this to be too literal so I’m not using a reference photo, just painting from memory. If painting from memory seems daunting don’t worry. Try instead to think of the landscape as a series of shapes. Large shapes, small shapes, dark shapes and light shapes. Materials used in the video: Watercolor paper 140lb / 300 gsm. Acrylic colors: Burgundy, golden yellow, black, Prussian blue, Wedgwood blue and Titanium white. Watercolor pencils, crayons Masking tape, spray bottle.
