I Fixed Ceiling Cracks & You Won't Believe How They Look Now

In this video I will show you a simple step by step process of fixing cracks in a ceiling or plaster. I will include preventing the crack returning, preparing the crack for filling, choosing the right filler, filling the crack and finally the sanding methods to ensure a good finish. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases The first step is to prevent the plasterboard from moving, this is the reason you have the crack in the first place. I chose to re-fix the plasterboard to the joist using plasterboard screws. The next step is to rake out the crack to ensure the new filler has a sufficient area to bond to, I did this with a decorators multi tool. The next step is to fill the joint, I chose a combination of 2 part wood filler and lightweight filler. Both these product are easy to sand but just be sure to remove most of the excess filler as this makes sanding so much easier. The next step is to sand the filler, I started with 120 grit and worked my way through the sandpaper to 240 grit to ensure the finish was really smooth. Try to sand in different directions as this will ensure the ceiling is perfectly flat. Once your happy with the finish you can finally paint the ceiling, I chose to use Dulux trade super matt emulsion as this has excellent coverage.
