Imogene, Iowa, according to the latest census, has 39 residents. “If you visit it, you’ll love it,” said guest Sacha Wise, Empower Rural Iowa director, who, along with Rebecca Castle Laughlin, city clerk of Imogene, talked with Business Record Staff Writer Lisa Rossi about efforts to grow the town’s population. “We have nowhere to go but up for local businesses,” Castle Laughlin said. “It’s almost like a blank canvas.”
