Meet Rajat Arora, our guest on the Big Bull Podcast, who engages in Swing Trading.  Back in 2015, while interning as Company secretary (CS), Rajat Arora heard about the stock market from his boss. His boss used to often discuss the ins and outs of trading, including the profits and losses involved. He practically learnt about the stock market when his boss showed his trading portfolio and explained that stocks give dividends, especially those of public sector companies, and also showed his old stocks. Inspired by this, he started buying a small quantity of stocks with the 10k-15k savings. Gradually, he began to see some profits. Later, it was realised that even though he was studying Company secretary (CS), he didn't analyse companies' balance sheets.Then he focused on market fundamentals and took advantage of his commerce background to examine financial statements. Gradually, he began learning about the stock market through YouTube and books. In January 2019, his father passed away, and on the 10th day after his father’s death, gold worth 18-20 lakh was stolen from his home. During that time, he had stopped trading for 6-8 months. When he resumed trading, he had accumulated a good amount of capital, and he also had a good understanding of fundamentals. However, his technical knowledge was not extensive at that time. He then started engaging in positional trading. In 2021, when the coronavirus pandemic hit, his mother passed away. After a few months, he got married, and he had to take on the responsibility of his younger brother. To distract his mind during that challenging time, he would often look at the market. His focus was on their responsibilities and the market itself. He would observe the market day and night to enhance his knowledge. As his profits started increasing, he also increased his capital, leading to even higher profits. He admits that his biggest mistake among all these experiences was Overtrading.
