Full Session How to play out of the back

Objective: Why we make certain decisions when we play out of the back, When to make said decision, How to use correct technique when playing out of the back and Where on the field we must play and move to support when playing out of the back. DESCRIPTION: The group is split up into 3 boxes. Box B is a general rondo box 3v2, 3v1, 4v2 etc depending on numbers. Box A is a keeper, two center backs, 3 midfielders attacking and 2 forwards defending. The objective is for blue to play though the middle and get out the other side of the box in a 5v1 rondo. The rule is that only one defender can go in the box at one time and 1 of the 3 midfielders can be in at one given time. This encourages communication, movement and height for options. If red win the ball they can go to goal and blue can defend them. 1A. Progression: Now we allow the defender on the outside to follow a player if he drops in. The attackers must keep at least one outside the top of the square to provide height to quote score on. Can players draw defenders away to create space. If red win the ball they can go to goal and blue can defend them. Coaching Points: Quality of weight of pass and touch, decision making, movement off the ball, body shape and speed of play. 2 DESCRIPTION: This exercise is a 5v3 with 2 midfield targets and 3 goals. The objective is for Blue to score in the 3 mini goals and for red it is to steal the ball, counter and score on the big goal. In order to teach players to play to the midfield targets goals count double if any of the two attacking midfielders are used in the build up to scoring. In this progression we add two midfielders for red who can enter the play if there partner on the other team enters the field. This will teach players of timing of runs and movement off the ball. If your partner comes back out the field you must follow them.
