Burdur Bucak Susuz Köyü

Hello friends, in this video, we introduce you to the village of Susuz, known to some as the Susuz Caravanserai or Susuz Inn, located in the Bucak district of Burdur. We interviewed the village headman, Mehmet Dilek, about the village. Susuz Inn - Burdur Susuz Inn is located in Susuz Village, 10 kilometers from the Bucak district, on the Antalya-Burdur road. Built during the reign of the Anatolian Seljuk Sultan Gıyaseddin Keyhusrev II (1237-1246). Only the indoor section of Susuz Inn has survived to this day. Traces of walls and vaults on the west facade, where the portal is located, indicate that it had a courtyard on the western side. The indoor section of the Inn was designed as a structure with a central nave running east-west and five bays perpendicular to this nave. A dome sits at the center of the building, surmounting the vault of the central nave. The main walls of the structure are supported by round and polygonal buttresses. In 2008, an excavation was conducted in collaboration with the Burdur Museum Directorate and Ege University in the area west of the covered section where the courtyard was supposed to be located. This short-term excavation, conducted to uncover data on the open courtyard structure, yielded ceramic fragments from various periods, Byzantine-era ceramic vessel fragments, pipes dating to the 17th and 18th centuries, spindle whorls from the Roman-Byzantine period, and copper coins dating to the reigns of Gıyaseddin Keyhusrev II (1237-1246), İzzettin Keykavus II, and Gıyaseddin Keyhusrev III. Furthermore, silver coins belonging to three Ottoman sultans found during the excavations indicate that the structure was used after the Seljuk period.
