Using the Megaohmmeter- FOR HYBRID TRAINED TECHNICIANS ONLY
In this video we explore when and how you use the Fluke 1507 or Fluke 1587 Megaohmmeter. Note: this meter is used when the system detects a "Short" in the High Voltage system of a Hybrid, EV, or Fuel Cell vehicle. Second Note: A regular ohmmeter can not be used with these vehicles when an Isolation fault is detected, the voltage produced by a standard ohmmeter is only about 3 volts. The megaohmmeter can produce as much as 1000 volts to match the voltage produced by a Toyota Hybrid, EV, or Fuel Cell vehicle. ONLY TECHNICIANS TRAINED TO SERVICE THESE VEHICLES SHOULD DO SO.
