Mani ki Baat/Suneet ke Saath explores with Janab Qurban Ali, the 'Mark Tully' of BBC Hindi and Urdu, the decline and possible revival of the INDIA bloc in the light of the INDIA conclave at Constitution Club on 8 June 2026. In the guest's view, the decline of the Congress party's ideology as the flag-bearer of secularism began with Indira Gandhi's second coming in 1980, as witness her election speeches in the Jammu & Kashmir campaign which were the first electoral challenge she faced after her remarkable comeback on the national stage. The threat of a saffron-dominated, authoritarian "Hndu Rashtra', involving fundamental changes in India's hitherto constitutional democracy, with seclarism at its core, is explored. Highlighting the rumblings of remonstrance at the the INDIA conclave, Mani Shankar Aiyar suggest that the Sonia magic might still restore coherence to INDIA and thus restore the certainty of its defeating the sangh parivar in 2029. Others are sceptical of that working.
