10 years ago America was NUTS for the Prius. Toyota sold more Prii than any of their trucks, SUVs or crossovers. Pundits assumed Prius would even eclipse Camry and Corolla one day. But that day never came because the Prius was eclipsed by the rise of the modern EV that did two things no Prius had ever done: look good and be fun to drive... Until now. Clearly the horse left the barn some time ago, but this Prius has the chops to be that fun to drive efficiency king we all knew Toyota could build. It's good looking, the interior is practical, the design is funky-chic. Despite that however, Toyota's sales goal for this generation is about 200,000 units less a year than it was in 2014. Ouch. RAV4 Prime? That's the new sales leader. If on the other hand you care about efficiency and emissions, the Prime is one of the most efficient vehicles on sale in America and according to recent reporting, might actually be the greenest car you can buy in 2024.
